Kristin Chenoweth Sings Operatic Version of ‘Game of Thrones’ Theme Song (Video)

Turns out, Kristin Chenoweth is a mega “Game of Thrones” fan like the rest of us — so much that she actually can sing her own version of the show’s theme song.

With a microphone and a sword made of Valyrian steel in her hand during an appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the Tony Award-winning singer belted out the “Operatic version” of the orchestral tune that plays during the HBO fantasy series’ opening credits sequence.

Chenoweth’s latest album, “The Art of Elegance,” is out now. Apart from originating the role of Glinda in the musical “Wicked,” her credits include “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” NBC’s “The West Wing” and ABC’s “Pushing Daisies.” She has also done voice work for films like “Rio 2″ (2014” and “The Peanuts Movie” (2015).

The “Game of Thrones” opening credits have become the standard-bearer of prestige show openers of the modern era. The sequence reveals what cities will be featured in the upcoming episode using a three-dimensional map of the world. The title sequence was created by Elastic, the company that has also created the opening credits for “Westworld.”
