‘Game of Thrones’: Sophie Turner Wishes Joffrey Hadn’t Died

It’s hard to imagine why, but there is a reason, she explains at Comic-Con

At the “Game of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, Sophie Turner said something pretty shocking: that she wished King Joffrey, perpetual abuser of her character Sansa Stark, was still kicking.

The context is probably pretty important for “GoT”  fans to understand whether they should be mad at Turner for waxing fondly for one of the most hated characters in the show’s robust history of hated characters. (He died after being poisoned at his wedding.)

Turner made the comment in response to a prompt from moderator Kristian Nairn, who asked all the present cast members which dead character they’d want to bring back if they could. And here was Sophie Turner‘s response:

“I loved working with Jack Gleeson so much, I have to say Joffrey,” Turner said.

The answer was, of course, met by groans and other negative sounds from the audience. Because, you know, gross. But, hey, at least her justification involved the actor being a cool person and not at all to do with any sort of fondness for the actual character.

Other cast members in attendance included: Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran), Jon Bradley (Sam Tarley), Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei), Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), Conleth Hill (Verys), Alffie Allen (Theon) and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne)
