Gayle King Predicts Oprah Will Buy Clippers

“If I was a betting man, I’d say yes,” the “CBS This Morning” anchor says

Gayle King would bet money that her good friend Oprah Winfrey would buy the LA Clippers.

Winfrey is considering a joint bid with David Geffen and Larry Ellison to purchase the Los Angeles Clippers “should the team become available,” a spokeswoman said last week.

“Listen, I wouldn’t bet against Oprah Winfrey, David Geffen and Larry Ellison,” King said on Wednesday morning’s “CBS This Morning.” “That is quite a trifecta and as you all know, they’re all thinking about it. That’s pretty funny stuff.”

King was responding to a joke by David Letterman about what would happen if Winfrey bought the team.

Charlie Rose was intrigued.

“Do you think it’ll happen?” Rose asked.

“If I was a betting man, I think yes,” King revealed.

The NBA has banned Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life and hopes to force him to sell the team because of racist remarks he was caught making on tape.
