George Clooney in Early Talks to Direct ‘Echo’ at Fox

Christopher MacBride is penning the script for the sci-fi thriller

George Clooney is in early talks to direct the sci-fi thriller “Echo” at Fox, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Christopher MacBride is writing the script for the thriller in which a drone specialist is in the midst of a psychological crisis and questions whether his lover is who she says she is.

21 Laps’ Shawn LevyDan Levine and Dan Cohen are producing. 21 Laps’ recent hits include “Arrival,” “Stranger Things” and the upcoming “Darkest Minds.”

Clooney last directed “Sububicon” and the first episode of the upcoming adaptation of “Catch-22.” He last starred in “Money Monster” and “Hail, Caesar!”

MacBride’s recent credits include the TV series “Inside the Box” as well as the short “Sleep Lab” and the feature film “The Conspiracy,” on which he served as director, writer and editor. He is currently also working on “The Education of Fredrick Fitzell” and “Amnesia.”

Clooney is represented by CAA and Stan Rosenfield & Associates. MacBride is represented by Industry Entertainment and ICM Partners.

A spokesperson for Fox declined to comment.
