George Lopez Sets Late Night Guest List

Ellen DeGeneres, Kobe among first guests. But we’re most excited about this name: Arsenio Hall.

A slew of big name stars, from Ellen DeGeneres to Jamie Foxx, have agreed to appear on George Lopez’s new TBS latenight show during its opening weeks. But the most interesting name on the early guest list for "Lopez Tonight"? Arsenio Hall.

Hall does have a movie to promote — "Black Dynamite" — so it’s not a total shocker that he’d be book on a talk show.

But Hall is best known as the man who changed late night, making it cool (along with David Letterman) for folks under 30 to watch a talkshow during the latter Carson era. He also succeeded outside the broadcast network arena, making his mark via syndication.

Lopez is taking a page out of the Arsenio playbook with his TBS show. He’s also avoiding network TV and has said he wants his show to have a party feel to it, just like Hall’s program.

So in a sense, Hall’s visit to "Lopez Tonight" feels a bit like the passing of a torch.

In any case, "Lopez Tonight" will kick off Nov. 9 with DeGeneres, Eva Longoria-Parker and Kobe Bryant.

Other guests booked so far include Sandra Bullock, Ray Romano, Jessica Alba, Charlie Sheen, Queen Latifah, Ted Danson, Andy Garcia, Larry David, Taylor Lautner, Oscar de la Hoya, Kelly Osbourne, Floyd Mayweather, Eva Mendes and Kathy Griffin. G Lo will also visit with J Lo hubby Marc Anthony.
