George Lucas talks about the importance of science and space travel in “Raiders, Raptors, and Rebels: The Magic of ILM,” a new Science Channel special.
“Our only chance of survival is to try to figure out how we’re going to get off this planet because it’s going to be destroyed,” the “Star Wars” creator says.
In an exclusive video obtained by TheWrap, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” star James Spader is likewise pessimistic about the planet’s survival, though he takes a more humorous approach than Lucas. “The Earth is going to be fine,” Spader says. “How inhabitable it’ll be is another story. But the Earth will still be there.”
The special explores Lucas’ company Industrial Light and Magic, a division of LucasFilm, and it’s contributions to the world of science fiction and fact. It features exclusive interviews with Lucas, Joss Whedon, and a number of key ILM personnel, including John Knoll and Dennis Muren, and is narrated by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” star Mark Hamill.
“Raiders, Raptors, and Rebels” premieres on the Science Channel July 19th at 10pm/9c.
