Disney Channel has canceled “Girl Meets World,” according to the show’s writers.

“It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, that I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over,” the @GMWwriters account tweeted Wednesday. “I just officially got the call, and would like to thank this audience for its incredible love and loyalty. Please watch our January episodes.”

The Twitter account, purported to be run by showrunner Michael Jacobs himself, went on to say: “We leave you with three incredible souvenirs of a show we couldn’t be more proud of. As I look back I can tell you with absolute certainty – We gave you our best.”

The “Boy Meets World” spinoff is currently nearing the end of its third season, with three final episodes still left to air this January.

The final episodes, “Girl Meets Sweet 16” and the aptly titled “Girl Meets Goodbye,” will conclude the adventures of Cory and Topanga’s daughter, Riley Matthews, played by Rowan Blanchard, and her best friend Maya Hart, played by Sabrina Carpenter.

The series also stars Peyton Meyer as Lucas Friar and Corey Fogelmanis as Farkle Minkus, Riley and Maya’s classmates, and August Maturo as the Matthews’ other kid, Auggie.

“Girl Meets World” airs Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET on Disney Channel.

The series is a production of It’s A Laugh Productions, Inc and Michael Jacobs Productions.
