It’s official: "Glee" is going on tour.
Producer 20th Century Fox TV Monday confirmed long-rumored plans to have the show’s cast hit the road to perform song and dance numbers from the hit Fox series. The tour opens May 18 in Phoneix and will include stops in LA, Chicago and New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
“The response of the fans to our little show has been so immediate and so gratifying, we wanted to get out and thank them live and in person,” said Ryan Murphy, executive producer and co-creator of the series. “And what show lends itself more to a concert than ‘Glee?’"
The "Glee" tour reps the latest example of 20th finding a way to bring TV shows to live stages. "Family Guy" and "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia" have both done staged events in recent years.
Sister network Fox also helps promote live tours linked to its reality hits "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance."
