Glenn Beck Gets Bullied at New York Screening of Hitchcock Film (Video)

The conservative radio host describes the fracas, which occurred Monday at an open-air showing of “The 39 Steps”

Glenn Beck railed against New Yorkers on his radio program Tuesday, the day after he and his family were involved in a "hostile situation" at an open-air park screening of Alfred Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps."

Describing the scene Monday evening at the Midtown park, Beck said, "We got into a situation where, long story short, somebody kicked a cup of wine intentionally onto my wife's back." He said that when his wife and daughter fled to the bathroom, a man stood up as they passed and yelled, "We hate conservatives here!"

"These people were some of the most hateful people I've ever seen," he said, referring to one element of the movie-going crowd, who reportedly applauded as the Becks left just before the credits rolled.

He claimed his security staff said Tuesday morning that the whole thing could have "gone up" if Beck and family had been more confrontational. Instead, the host said, he stuck around through the tail end of the film because, as he puts it, "I have a right to watch a film with my family."

Listen to him relate the harrowing story in the clip below — which includes a suggestion that his attackers might have lynched him if they'd had rope and no small dash of theatrics.
