‘Goonies’ House Famed for ‘Truffle Shuffle’ Scene Shut Down by Angry Owner

Visitors trash iconic movie site with cigarette butts and beer bottles, showing once again why we can’t have nice things

Sorry, “The Goonies” fans. Looks like you should cancel that pilgrimage to Astoria, Oregon.

A house used in the 1985 film has been closed off to the public by the owner, after visitors trashed the front lawn with cigarettes and beer bottles, the Independent reports.

The property, which had been attracting 1,500 visitors a day, has been covered with a blue tarp. A sign in front of the building also warns people away from the premises.

A second sign offers the explanation, “Imagine that you buy a house, fix it up, spend money, time and love. Then the city of Astoria encourages 100,000’s of people to come and stand in front and view it … This driveway (maintained by homeowners) sees 1,000+ people every day. Most are kind, fun and welcome, but many are not.”

The iconic building was notable as the site where Chunk (Jeff Cohen) was forced to do the “truffle shuffle” before entering.
