The “How I Met Your Mother” star’s character will go on a blind date with Meredith

Ted Mosby is baaack!

Well, not exactly. However, Josh Radnor, who played the hopeless romantic on CBS’ beloved sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” for nine seasons, will be appearing in this week’s episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” as a potential love interest for none other than Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo).

ABC confirmed to TheWrap on Wednesday that Meredith will be going on a blind date with Josh Radnor’s character in Thursday’s episode (Oct. 11). Fans will know that one of her current patients is a professional matchmaker, and Mer is willing to dip her toes back into the dating pond. Further details about Radnor’s character are still unknown.

In a clip previewing the episode, Meredith’s fellow doctors tease her about looking nice when Dr. Maggie Pierce realizes that Meredith must be going on a date. Meredith says that she has never met this mystery man, or even knows what he looks like.

People was the first to report Radnor’s casting.

Radnor most recently appeared on NBC’s drama “Rise,” which was canceled after one season.

“Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
