Two new previews for Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” have arrived, and they’re just as fun as the rest of the wild promotions for the film.
They also help provide some context, cluing audiences in to who these strange looking heroes are, then teasing how often Zoe Saldana‘s character beats up Chris Pratt‘s Star-Lord.
The TV spot (above) quickly explains why Gamora (Zaldana) and Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) are so gung ho about teaming up with the Guardians to stop a bad guy named Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace). As it turns out, Ronan destroyed Gamora’s entire alien race, and kidnapped her. In another murderous rampage, he killed Drax the Destroyer’s entire family. So yeah, they want revenge.

Meanwhile, Star-Lord will not just sit around and watch Ronan wipe out the galaxy. When Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) asks why, he gives a pretty great answer.

“Because I’m one of the idiots who lives in it,” Pratt says in another TV spot (below).
“Guardians of the Galaxy” hits theaters on Aug. 1.
