Gwen Stefani Is Too Cool, Pharrell Williams Too Nice in ‘The Voice’ Season 7 Promo (Video)

Show’s new coaches display great chemistry as they battle with Adam Levine and Blake Shelton to build their teams

“The Voice” panel gets a third shake-up, with Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams signing on to join Adam Levine and Blake Shelton on the stalwart NBC reality show for its seventh season. Levine and Shelton have been with the show since the beginning.

Prior to this season, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green had been rotating with Shakira and Usher in the center seats of the show. While it’s always a gamble to mix up the chemistry of a panel like this — just as “American Idol” and “The X Factor” — NBC has managed to pull it off each and every time.

And it looks like they’ve scored another “A” in chemistry with this latest cast. Stefani and Williams slipped seamlessly into the cutthroat competition to select singers during the blind audition round, as shown in the first promo for the upcoming season.

Stefani, the No Doubt lead singer and successful solo artist, is already established as the cool one, while Williams is the guy who might even be too nice. There’s a reason his song “Happy” rocketed to the top of the charts earlier this year.

Williams also “knows what to do with that voice.” It’s a phrase he utters so often that Levine starts making fun of him for it. While Stefani doesn’t have a catch phrase, she does seem to have an inability to sit still … or stay in her seat. She’s constantly seen kicking her legs around and climbing all over hear seat in her excitement over the contestants.

The coaches start building their teams when “The Voice” kicks off Season 7 with a two-night premiere on Sept. 22-23 at 8 p.m. ET.
