The panic was short-lived as “The Voice” fans first received news that judge Gwen Stefani would not be returning for the new season of the NBC reality show — followed immediately by the update that she would return later in the season.
As TheWrap reported, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys will join “The Voice” as judges next season while singer-producer Pharrell Williams will leave.
An individual close to the show told TheWrap that Stefani will “likely” return to the coaching-judging panel in the spring. She will be joined by a yet-to-be-determined combination of coaches that could include Williams, the individual told TheWrap.
However, fans haven’t quite caught on to the fact that Stefani is not exactly being replaced by Cyrus.
“I love Miley but can we have Gwen back on The Voice instead,” said one fan who had not yet caught up on the latest.
“I am so disappointed in The Voice. I love the coaches + Gwen. Why are you bringing in Miley Cirrus trying to go the way of Idol,” said another.
Below are a sampling of social media reactions to the shakeup at “The Voice.”

Pure speculation but Gwen not returning to the voice is probably due to her schedule. Hopefully it means a tour of some sort ??
