Gwyneth Paltrow on Thursday announced a big life change: she’s moving away from acting. The Oscar winner told Matt Lauer of The Today Show that she plans to put her acting career on hold in order to focus on running her business.
In addition to being an award-winning actress, Paltrow is founder and CEO of Goop, a health and beauty lifestyle brand that she launched in 2008 as a simple newsletter run out of her family kitchen. Goop has since developed into a fully-functioning business, brand and online platform.
Paltrow told Lauer, “I had an incredible acting career, but I had this deep passion to produce content and make great products and curate things. It sort of evolved slowly and had a long gestational period and now it’s like, a real business.”
Although Paltrow is diving head-first into her business, she hasn’t completely turned away from acting. She said she will still “do a little bit here and there” when she has the time.
She last starred in 2015’s box office flop “Mortdecai,” opposite Johnny Depp.
