Hailee Steinfeld has been cast as Emily Dickinson in a new comedy series for Apple titled “Dickinson.”
Apple gave a straight-to-series order to the comedic take on the poet’s coming-of-age story, which is written and executive produced by Alena Smith, along with Michael Sugar and Ashley Zalta for Sugar23 Productions, Alex Goldstone for Anonymous Content and Darlene Hunt. Director David Gordon Green will also executive produce.

Steinfeld will step into the role of the revered poet as she explores the constraints of society, gender, and family, and fights to get her voice heard. The half-hour series is produced by wiip, Anonymous Content and Sugar23.
The Golden Globe and Oscar-nominated actress recently appeared in “Pitch Perfect 3” and “The Edge of Seventeen.” She is currently recording her first full-length studio album for Republic Records.
