Hailee Steinfeld Is a Bad Ass Emily Dickinson in First Look at Apple TV’s ‘Dickinson’ (Video)

“Wild Nights,” indeed

Apple TV+ dropped the first teaser for its upcoming dramedy “Dickinson” on Monday, teasing Hailee Steinfeld’s version of the famed 19th century poet. And let us warn you now, this is not your grandmother’s Emily Dickinson.

In the video above, you’ll see Steinfeld’s Dickinson act improper/like a total bad ass, as she scoffs at tradition and what she’s meant to do in favor of some “Wild Nights.” (Did you get the reference, there?) Her friends seem pretty awesome, too. Her mother (played by Jane Krakowski) on the other hand…

According to Apple TV+, “Dickinson” audaciously explores the constraints of society, gender and family from the perspective of rebellious young poet, Emily Dickinson (Steinfeld). Set in the 19th century, “Dickinson” is a coming-of-age story that finds Emily Dickinson to be an unexpected hero for our millennial era.

Created, written and executive produced by Alena Smith and executive produced by Steinfeld, “Dickinson” also stars Krakowski, Toby Huss, Anna Baryshnikov, Ella Hunt and Adrian Blake Enscoe.

Apple says the series will debut this fall on Apple TV+, along with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon’s drama “The Morning Show” and Ronald Moore’s “For All Mankind” — though the company has yet to set a launch date or price for the streaming service.
