In an unexpected stunt, Hannibal Buress sent a look-alike to Wednesday night’s premiere of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and jokingly tweeted a picture of his double on the red carpet during the event.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Buress put out a since-deleted tweet yesterday asking for “a lookalike with solid comedic timing for an event tonight” and offering $500 for the job.
A few hours later, Joe Carroll, a Nashville transplant who describes himself on Instagram as an “Author and screenwriter. Producer. Director. Actor,” accepted Buress’ offer and attended the premiere, even giving an interview during Marvel Studios’ live stream of the event.
Both Buress and Carroll posted pictures of the switch on social media.
