Harrison Ford Beheads Papa Smurf (Video)

“My wife took my son to see The Smurfs,” the “Cowboys & Aliens” star laments

Calista Flockhart has some explaining to do.

During a Monday appearance on TBS’ “Conan,” Harrison Ford admitted that his new wife was partly to blame for his film “Cowboys & Aliens”s' narrow box office victory over “The Smurfs" last weekend.

"My wife took my son to see 'The Smurfs,'" Harrison said in mock solemn seriousness. "He got into my movie for free, and so she took him to see 'The Smurfs.'"

The cartoon film took in $35.6 million in tickets this weekend, two of which were purchased by Flockart and the couple's 10-year-old son, Liam.

“We’re going to try to get [the money] back,” Ford told Conan.

"Cowboys," missed its pre-release projections in the $40 million-$45 million range, narrowly beating “Smurfs” with a $36.4 million grossing.

To let off a little steam and get back at the cuddly critters for eating into his film's grosses, Ford ripped the red-capped head off of a Smurfs' doll.
