Who will emerge triumphant — wizard or swashbuckler? Such are the questions that will be answered on January 11, when the 2012 People's Choice Awards air.
The awards organization unveiled its list of nominees Tuesday, revealing that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" will compete for favorite movie against "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," in a field that also includes "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," "Bridesmaids" and "The Help."
The respective "Potter" and "Pirates" stars, Daniel Radcliffe and Johnny Depp, will also be vying against each other in the Favorite Movie Actor category (which also includes the nominees Hugh Jackman, Robert Pattinson and Ryan Reynolds).
In all, "Deathly Hallows" leads the movie pack with a total of nine nominations.
On the TV front, "Glee" has racked up seven nominations, with six going to the show's talent, and one for Favorite Network TV Comedy.
In terms of individual nominees, "Teenage Dream" chanteuse Katy Perry leads the pack with seven nominations in various categories that span music, movies (for her voice work in "The Smurfs") and television.
Voting for the 2012 People's Choice Awards begins Tuesday via a variety of options including the PCA's Web site. The ceremony will air on CBS from 9 to 11 p.m.
