HBO has promoted Chris Spadaccini to head its Consumer Marketing division.

Under his new executive vice presidential focus, Spadaccini is responsible for providing strategic marketing direction for HBO and Cinemax, directing all branding efforts, providing oversight for program marketing campaigns, as well as guiding digital platform marketing efforts.

“Chris has worked across all aspects of Consumer and Product Marketing and has been instrumental in evolving HBO’s brand marketing strategy and network identity. He played a pivotal role in the launch of both HBO GO and HBO NOW, helped guide the marketing strategy of our digital platforms and developed campaigns for some of the network’s most iconic shows,” HBO EVP Scott McElhone said in a statement Monday. “It is an impressive body of experience and makes him the ideal executive to lead the continued evolution of the network’s marketing efforts.”

Spadaccini was formerly executive vice president, Brand & Product Marketing, where he oversaw the development and execution of brand marketing campaigns for the two premium-TV channels. Spadaccini began his career at HBO in January 1999 in the Program Advertising area. He moved up that ladder since. During his tenure at HBO, Spadaccini has overseen some of the network’s most high-profile and innovative marketing campaigns, such as “Game of Thrones” and “The Sopranos.”

Before HBO, Spadaccini worked at VH1, from June 1997 to December 1998, where he assisted in the development of consumer/trade marketing campaigns to support the network’s brand image and core programming.

Spadaccini began his career at PMK/HBH in March 1996, where he helped develop national publicity campaigns for high profile celebrities and corporate clients in entertainment.
