ABC has picked up the pilot of an adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s “The Hypnotist’s Love Story,” starring and executive produced by Heather Graham.

The series follows Ellen, a successful hypnotherapist who, after a string of failed romances, is optimistic about her current boyfriend until he reveals a disturbing truth: a stalker ex-girlfriend (Graham) who has been following him for years. She finds herself intrigued, and oddly thrilled by the stalker, entirely unaware that they’ve already met.

Graham will executive produce on the ABC Studios project alongside writer Katie Wech and David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks of Mandeville Television. Moriarity will produce.

Moriarty is the author of a number of bestsellers, including “Big Little Lies,” which was adapted into an HBO series starring Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman last year.
