Here’s Kendrick Lamar’s Full Grammy Intro With Dave Chappelle and U2 (Video)

The backdrop read “This is a satire”

Kendrick Lamar opened the 2018 Grammys with a fire performance — no, really.

The rapper — who won several Grammy awards Sunday night including Best Rap Album — was joined on stage by U2 members Bono and The Edge. He performed a medley that included “XXX” and “King’s Dead” off his nominated album “DAMN.”

The performance began with an American flag in the background and background dancers dressed as soldiers. Comedian Dave Chappelle, who later presented the Best Rap Album category, interrupted Lamar’s performance to comment on the rapper’s social commentary.

“Is this okay for CBS?” Chappelle asked. “It looks like he’s singing and dancing, but this man is taking enormous chances.”

Later performance, the backdrop read “This is a satire by Kendrick Lamar.” He also continued his Kung-Foo Kenny theme with drums and fire before the stunning performance ended.
