Hillary Clinton wrote a heartfelt goodbye to Nicole Cliffe and Mallory Ortberg’s female-driven website The Toast, on its final day.

“I know that today is the final day of The Toast, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what this space — and spaces like it — mean for women,” the Democratic presumptive presidential nominee wrote Friday.

Clinton goes on to recall the all-female dinner parties held by Senator Barbara Mikulski when Clinton herself was first elected in 2001, and praised Cliffe, Ortberg and The Toast’s managing editor Nikki Chung for taking the same approach to creating safe spaces for women to speak their minds, as well as encouraging all women to speak up in their classes or workplaces.

“And if the space you’re in doesn’t have room for your voice, don’t be afraid to carve out a space of your own,” she continued.

“You never know — you might just be the next Nicole Cliffe, Mallory Ortberg or Nikki Chung.”
