Hollywood Film Fest Founder Launches Entertainment News Site

Carlos de Abreu taps L.A. Times veteran Robert Welkos to run HollywoodNews.com

Hollywood Film Festival founder has launched Hollywood News.com and hired veteran Los Angeles Times entertainment journalist Robert Welkos as executive editor.

"HollywoodNews.com is the one-stop place for the best entertainment and Hollywood-related content on the Web. We are the pulse of new Hollywood," de Abreu said in a statement.

Welkos said in a statement that the online destination "for both entertainment pros and fans" will offer "insightful and cutting-edge news with a perspective on the inside track of Hollywood.

The news site plans to cover awards, fashion, lifestyles, movies, music and television, as well as being on the red carpet for various events and conducting one-on-one in-depth interviews with celebrities. It also plans to employ "celebrity roving journalists" and "citizen journalists."
