A PlayStation Network security breach may have compromised the personal information of more than 70 million users.
Sony admitted on Tuesday that the hacker attacks were much worse than originally reported, leaving the personal information and addresses of network members compromised.
Hackers may have even gotten hold of credit card information, although the company said there was no evidence that data had been stolen. The company said that it shut the network down six days ago after noticing the attack.
"To protect against possible identity theft or other financial loss, we encourage you to remain vigilant, to review your account statements and to monitor your credit reports," Patrick Seybold, senior director of corporate communications for Sony Computer Entertainment America, wrote on the company blog.
The company has hired an outside investigator to try to assess the extent of the leaks.
The attacks struck as the company was rebuilding its system last Wednesday.
