‘Home Sweet Home Alone’ Trailer Sees Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney as Newest Hapless Burglars (Video)

Reboot of the comedy classic “Home Alone” opens on Disney+ Nov. 12

You know the story. A 10-year-old boy is left home alone and forgotten on a family vacation, and now he can live like a king in the house on his own — until a pair of burglars try to spoil the fun. But in “Home Sweet Home Alone,” instead of the menacing Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney are the two hapless criminals who don’t know what (or rather, who) they’re up against.

“Home Sweet Home Alone” is the Disney+ remake of the 1990 comedy classic “Home Alone,” which starred Macauley Culkin. This new film may have some ties to the original, as the trailer teases there’s a cop keeping an eye on the neighborhood whose name is “McAllister,” as in Kevin McAllister.

But that may be where the direct ties end, because this first trailer is just more madcap fun as orchestrated by Archie Yates, who you may recognize from “Jojo Rabbit.”

“This is NOT going well,” Kemper says as she and Delaney skid down an icy driveway on their backsides.

Also in the cast are Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Tim Simons, Pete Holmes, Devin Ratray, Ally Maki and Chris Parnell.

The film is directed by Dan Mazer from a screenplay by “SNL” writers Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, with a story by Day, Seidell and John Hughes, based on a screenplay by John Hughes. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson produce with Jeremiah Samuels serving as executive producer.

Disney will release “Home Sweet Home Alone” on Nov. 12 as part of its Disney+ Day celebration, featuring a wave of new content and releases across all the company’s brands. Check out the new trailer above.
