Hope for Showbiz Economy: NAB Attendance Up

Trade show sees sizable uptick in attendees

Holy crap: There’s finally some good news from the world of TV business conventions.

The National Association of Broadcasters just put out a release saying that attendance at the annual tradeshow is up this year. Just over 88,000 folks made the schlep to Las Vegas this year vs. 82,650 in 2009.

We’re pretty sure the uptick is all because 20th Century Fox TV chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden agreed to be interviewed at the powwow on Monday.

Whatever the reason, it’s got to be an encouraging sign whenever more industry types believe they can afford to spend some cash on travel and self-improvement.

Or maybe there are just more tech folks in the house, like MoJoe’s lunch date today — Clicker CEO Jim Lanzone. (Free dining advice: The chicken enchildas at the Hard Rock Hotel’s Pink Taco? OUT-standing. You can thank us later).

NAB runs through Thursday.
