‘House’ Proud: Fox Renews Hugh Laurie Doctor Drama for Season 8

The mostly expected pick-up is announced as the network puts the final touches on its fall schedule

This "House" party ain't over yet.

Fox announced Tuesday that it has renewed Hugh Laurie's medical drama for an eighth season, locking another show into the network's fall lineup with less than a week before revealing its 2011-12 schedule to advertisers.

In a statement, Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, said, "Over the past seven seasons, 'House' has redefined the medical drama and has given us one of television’s most compelling and iconic characters."

While off heavily from its peak ratings early in the show's run, "House" still brings them in — Monday's episode drew a 2.9 in the 18-49 demo to go with 7.8 million total viewers.
