Alyson Hannigan is back on CBS after “How I Met Your Mother” wrapped earlier this year. The actress is guest starring on CBS’s freshman comedy “The McCarthys.”

She’ll play Pam, Marjorie (Laurie Metcalf) and Arthur’s (Jack McGee) tenant on the Christmas episode airing Thursday, Dec. 18 at 9:30 p.m. ET.

Pam is described as sweet, but fresh from a break-up and broken-hearted. In order to cheer her up, Marjorie invites her to join the family for Christmas Eve, however, as Pam watches the McCarthys play their very competitive annual gift exchange, she is shocked by how the family treats each other.

Aside from playing Lily Aldrin on “How I Met Your Mother,” Hannigan also starred on cult favorite series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Her movie credits include “American Pie,” “American Pie 2,” “American Wedding” and “Date Movie.”

Will Gluck, Brian Gallivan, Mike Sikowitz, Richie Schwartz and Pam Fryman serve as executive producers on “The McCarthys.” Produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Gluck’s Olive Bridge, the comedy revolves around a loud, sports-crazed Boston clan.

“The McCarthys” also stars Tyler Ritter, Joey McIntyre, Jimmy Dunn, Kelen Coleman.
