‘How to Get Away With Murder’ Creator Pete Nowalk Signs Overall Deal With ABC

Three-year deal will keep writer-producer on hit Shondaland show as well as develop new projects

Pete Nowalk has signed a three-year overall deal with ABC Studios, where he is currently the creator and showrunner on “How to Get Away With Murder.”

The deal will keep Nowalk at his current post on the hit Shondaland drama, as well as see the writer-executive producer develop new projects. The deal is retroactive to this fall, when “HTGAWM” kicked off its sophomore season.

Nowalk began his Shondaland career as a writer on “Grey’s Anatomy” before becoming a co-EP on “Scandal” and ultimately creating the Viola Davis-led Emmy-winning “HTGAWM.”

He is represented by UTA.

“We’re thrilled to extend our relationship with Pete. He’s been part of the ABC Studios family for a long time and created a hugely successful drama for us,” said EVP of ABC Studios Patrick Moran in a statement. “We hope that our partnership lasts a long time.”
