Chris Hemsworth Was ‘Bored’ of Playing Thor Before ‘Ragnarok’ (Video)

So for the third movie in “Thor” franchise, the Australian actor tells Jimmy Kimmel he thought “Let’s do something different!”

Chris Hemsworth promises that “Thor: Ragnarok” will be different than the previous “Thor” movies, especially because he had grown “pretty bored” of himself as the Marvel character.

“Every day was about exploring the unknown and trying something different,” Hemsworth said during his appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Tuesday. “I had got pretty bored of myself as that character and so did [Taika], maybe a few people out there [too], so we thought, ‘Let’s do something different.’”

Giving Thor a hair cut, Hemsworth added, was part of that transformation. The Australian actor has played the role of the God of Thunder in two previous “Thor” films before “Ragnarok,” and also reprised the role in “The Avengers,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and a post-credit scene of “Doctor Strange.” He will next play the role in “Avengers: Infinity War.”

“Ragnarok” was directed by Taika Waititi and stars Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson, Cate Blanchett, Anthony Hopkins and Idris Elba.

So far, early viewers of the film have praised the third installment of the franchise, and even Kimmel told Hemsworth that he believes this is the best Marvel movie to date.

“Thor: Ragnarok” will hit theaters on Nov. 3.
