The claws might be coming out for Hugh Jackman again soon — but fans shouldn’t get their hopes up for seeing the actor portray Wolverine on the big screen again anytime soon.
“X-Men” alum Jackman spilled a little April Fools Day into his Halloween on Thursday, toying with fans who might want to see him play the movie mutant once more after retiring the character earlier this year with “Logan.”
“Just maybe I will finally wear blue and yellow spandex for my #halloweencostume,” Jackman tweeted to his fans, along with a picture of himself holding up a packaged Wolverine Halloween costume.
Lest the joke be lost on anyone, Jackman also included the hashtag “#tootall.”
In 2015, Jackman indicated that he would be playing the superhero character just once more, posting a photo of his fists clutching the claws of the character with the caption “Wolverine… one last time.”
“Logan,” released in March, grossed $226 million domestically.
So unless Jackman has had a dramatic change of heart — and the “X-Men” films have had a dramatic budget boost — it looks like the actor was just goofing with his fans.
Maybe he can go trick-or-treating with Patrick Stewart, though…
