Hulu is on the hunt for a Chief Content Officer, TheWrap has learned.
The position, reporting directly to CEO Mike Hopkins, will oversee original programming and content acquisitions, as well as devise a content strategy for the company at large.
Current content lead Craig Erwich will remain in his Senior Vice President title, and focus more on creative development and original production.
Erwich will assist in the search for the C-suite position, and lead the team until one is found.
In addition to a mandate to increase content production and acquisition, Hulu was expected to get its live TV service off the ground in the first quarter of 2017. It has yet to roll out, as competitors like Directv Now and YouTube already have products on the market.
Hopkins also announced that Hulu Live will be priced at under $40, and that price would include Hulu’s SVOD library. Hopkins announced this week that the service would stream the lion’s share of CBS programming.
That would give users access to popular programming, including “Big Bang Theory,” “NCIS,” “Big Brother,” “Blue Bloods” and “60 Minutes,” both live and on-demand. In addition, subscribers will get all NFL preseason, regular and post-season games broadcast on CBS, and the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball championship.
