Spike TV and Network Entertainment have released the trailer for “I Am Heath Ledger,” the new documentary exploring the life of the late actor who passed away in 2008.

Actor Ben Mendelsohn, director Ang Lee, model Christina Cauchi and Ledger’s sister Kate Ledger all pop up in the preview, praising the “Brokeback Mountain” actor.

“Heath was the most alive human,” musician Ben Harper says.

“He wanted fame, and then when he got it, he didn’t want it,” filmmaker Matt Amato adds.

Using interviews with members of the actor’s inner circle, Derik Murray’s “I Am Heath Ledger” chronicles the late Australian actor’s life and movie career. In addition to “Brokeback Mountain,” he’s best known for playing the Joker in “The Dark Knight,” for which he won a posthumous best supporting actor Oscar.

Previous subjects of “I Am” have included Chris Farley and Bruce Lee. Ledger’s episode airs on May 17 following its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23. The film will also have a limited theatrical release on May 3.
