‘Insidious 3’ Trailer Teases Origins of Blumhouse Horror Franchise (Video)

Leigh Whannell, who wrote the first two “Insidious” films, makes his feature directorial debut on the third

Before the supernatural evils of Blumhouse’s “Insidious” franchise haunted the likes of Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, the story of “Insidious 3” was unfolding.

The horror threequel, which has just released a new trailer, is actually a prequel, following psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye reprising her role) as she uses her abilities to help a young girl (played by Stefanie Scott) and her father (Dermot Mulroney) after they come under siege from paranormal forces.

Whatever happens here will set the stage for the future family led by Wilson and Byrne’s characters to get terrorized later on.

Leigh Whannell, who wrote the first two “Insidious” films, makes his feature directorial debut directing the third film.

“Insidious: Chapter 3” will be released on May 29, 2015.
