‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Promo Is Gloriously Ridiculous (Video)

Offering nothing about the new season, it instead offers a surreal “rocket ship” experience featuring many of the FXX show’s supporting cast members

By this point, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” has become a sort of institution for FXX (previously on FX). The show has been on the air for nine years already, with three more already locked up. You’re either on board, or you’re not, and the latest promo kind of proves it.

It offers nothing about the upcoming Season 10, set to debut in January 2015, nor does it offer any particularly funny moments. Instead, it’s a parody of action space movies like “Interstellar” and “Armageddon” with our cast walking up to a “rocket” in full gear.

They’re surrounded by an adoring crowd, which features virtually everyone who has ever appeared as a recurring cast member on the show.

But rather than blast off into space in the rocket as they expected, the gang is in for an explosive surprise.

It makes absolutely no sense, and it certainly isn’t going to do much to lure in new viewers. This one appears to have been made specifically for the loyal fans of the show who followed it from FX to FXX last season, and will stick with it as long as it’s on the air.

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” stars Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito. It returns to FXX in January 2015.
