Ridley Scott‘s “Exodus: Gods and Kings” is a story of conflict with two men at the heart of the storm. Christian Bale‘s Moses squares off against Joel Edgerton‘s Ramesses II, and if the latest trailer is any indication, there’s a WWE main event on the way between these two.
Basically, for about half a minute there’s a lot of yelling back and forth between the two men. In fact, it kind of looks like 20th Century Fox was trying to establish their entire relationship and ultimate falling out over the issue of slavery in the span of this single 30-second spot.
The film has been under fire almost since the beginning, based on Scott’s decision to cast white actors in key Egyptian roles, including both Bale and Edgerton. He explained that each choice was made based on the caliber of the actor or actress, in the case of Sigourney Weaver as an Egyptian queen.
Written by Jeffrey Caine, Bill Collage, Adam Cooper and Steven Zaillian, “Exodus: Gods and Kings” costars Weaver, John Turturro, Aaron Paul, Ben Kingsley and Ben Mendelsohn.
Produced by Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping, 20th Century Fox will release the Biblical saga to theaters on Friday, Dec. 12.
