Jake Gyllenhaal and Jimmy Fallon Get Messy at the ‘Point Pleasant Police Department’ (Video)

The “Southpaw” star and the late-night host claim to have appeared on an ’80s cop show together

We all know Jake Gyllenhaal from high-profile films such as “Brokeback Mountain,” “End of Watch,” “Nightcrawler” and “Southpaw” — but do you remember “Point Pleasant Police Department”?

Probably not, as we’re pretty sure that Jimmy Fallon and the Oscar-nominated actor made up the ’80s cop show set in Point Pleasant, New Jersey.

“We played two detectives who couldn’t see eye to eye,” Fallon told viewers on Monday’s episode of “The Tonight Show.”

“I’ve had some pretty intense roles, but this was the most intense,” Gyllenhaal claimed.

“Our two characters were constantly yelling at each other and we got into some pretty messy situations,” Fallon reminisced, before pulling a clip out of the archives.

Get ready for plenty of spitting of food and spluttering of lines between the comedy duo.

“The Tonight Show” airs at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
