First Look at Jamie Foxx as ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Villain Electro (Video)

Sony gets a jump on Comic-Con with this look at the sequel's villain

That Electro is a real spark plug.

Sony Pictures makes its big Comic-Con presentation to the fanboy faithful until Friday, but the studio is getting a jump on the competition by releasing the first footage of Jamie Foxx in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."

The Oscar-winner portrays Maxwell Dillon, a.k.a. Electro — an unsavory character who has the ability to control electricity. He also speaks in a slow drawl that seems to intersect somewhere between menacing and unintelligible. Apparently he and Bane went to the same school of elocution.

"You want to know how powerful I am?" Electro asks. "Well I want to know too."

When it comes to making life unpleasant for Spidey, Electro will have some help from Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn (better known as the Green Goblin) and Paul Giamatti as the Rhino.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" swings into theaters on May 2, 2014. The film will once again star Andrew Garfield as the wall crawler and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Marc Webb returns as director.
