The currently untitled pilot, which is being written by Abbate, revolves around Karey, the clean-nosed black sheep in a family of petty thieves, drug addicts, and narcissists who decides to raise her brother's kids as her own along with her adopted African American son when her brother is sent to prison.

"Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" star Seymour will play Dotty, Karey's mother, who's described as "self-centered, theatrical and often inappropriate."

Seymour has recently had guest spots on "Ben and Kate" and "Franklin & Bash."

"Men of a Certain Age" alum Majandra Delfino has also been cast in the pilot as Karey's sister Penny, a self-centered, clueless singer-songwriter with questionable taste.

"Last Man Standing"'s Shawn Levy is executive producing the pilot, along with Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements. 20th Century Fox Television and 21 Laps/Adelstein are producing.
