Jason Flemyng has been cast as one of the stars of SkyOne’s historical drama “Jamestown,” TheWrap has learned exclusively.

Set in 1619, the series depicts the epic story of the birth of a nation and the start of the American dream, when a boatload of English women arrives in Jamestown, Virginia, to deliver the eventual wives and partners of the colony’s pioneering British settlers.

On the edge of the known world and struggling against all odds, the series follows the early days of these pioneers as they establish community while battling to tame the magnificent but inhospitable wilderness.

Flemyng will portray Sir George Yeardley, a self-made, ex-military man who is the new governor of Jamestown and has been recently knighted in his native England. Moral, honest and steadfast, he wants to “clean up” Jamestown.

Flemyng’s credits include “X-Men: First Class,” “Kick-Ass,” “Sunshine on Leith” and David Fincher‘s upcoming HBO series “Living on Video.” He is represented by APA and 42.
