Jay-Z’s ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ Smashes Spotify Records

The album had over 14 million streams in the U.S.

Jay-Z's "Magna Carta Holy Grail" album just racked up the biggest first week for an album in U.S. Spotify history. 

The album had over 14 million streams in the U.S., topping recent new releases from Mumford & Sons, Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake and Kanye West, among others.

By comparison, Daft Punk had 9.5 million streams, Mumford & Sons had 8 million.

"Magna Carta Holy Grail" also had the biggest single day for an album in U.S. Spotify history. According to its website, Spotify has more than 24 million registered active overs and more than 6 million paid subscribers. It boasts more than 20 million songs and is available in 28 countries.

Nielsen SoundScan first-week sales data will be available later on Tuesday.
