Jenna Dewan is just what the doctor ordered for the second season of Fox’s medical drama, “The Resident.” The “World of Dance” star has been cast in the recurring role of Julian Lynn on the Matt Czuchry-led series.

Sharp and sophisticated, Julian is a medical device rep with an ability to connect with just about anybody. Her warmth, beauty and charisma make her highly effective at a job she loves.

A former dancer, Julian got her life back with the help of a device. Now she’s passionate about helping others do the same. As the season progresses, she gradually becomes aware of the lack of transparency in her chosen field and realizes there may be dangerous issues ahead.

Best known for leading the “Step Up” film franchise, Dewan recently wrapped production on the Lakeshore Entertainment flick “The Wedding Year,” where she stars opposite of Sarah Hyland, Anna Camp, and Keith David. She also finished filming on “Berlin, I Love You,” starring Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley, Jim Sturgess, Mickey Rourke, Diego Luna, Orlando Bloom, Sophie Turner, Jack Huston, Patrick Dempsey and Renee Zellweger.

Dewan is currently in pre-production on Netflix’s new musical drama series, “Mixtape.” Her other TV credits include “Supergirl,” “Witches of East End,” “American Horror Story: Asylum.”

She is repped by Management 360, UTA, and Bloom, Hergott, Diemer, Rosenthal, LaViolette, Feldman, Schenkman and Goodman.

According to the Fox drama’s logline, “The Resident,” is a powerful medical show focusing on a young doctor’s final years of training that rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country.

The series stars Czuchry (Dr. Conrad Hawkins), Emily VanCamp (Nicolette Nevin), Bruce Greenwood (Dr. Randolph Bell), Manish Dayal (Dr. Devon Pravesh), Shaunette Renée Wilson (Dr. Mina Okafor), Malcolm-Jamal Warner (Dr. AJ Austin), Jane Leeves (Dr. Kitt Voss) and Glenn Morshower (Marshall Winthrop).

“The Resident” hails from 20th Century Fox Television and is executive produced by Todd Harthan (“Rosewood”), Amy Holden Jones (“Mystic Pizza,” “Indecent Proposal”), Rob Corn (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Antoine Fuqua (“Southpaw,” “Training Day”), David Boorstein (“Level 26: Dark Revelations”), Oly Obst (“The Mick,” “Ghosted”) and Phillip Noyce (“Patriot Games,” “The Bone Collector”).

“The Resident” Season 2 premieres Monday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on Fox.
