Warner Bros. has pushed the Jennifer Aniston comedy “Mean Moms” off its May 8, 2015 release date, the studio said Thursday.
No new opening date has been set for the New Line comedy, which is directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller. The adult-themed “Mean Moms” is in the spirit of the 2004 comedy “Mean Girls,” and while it is not a sequel in any way, both projects are based on advice books by Rosalind Wiseman.
Instead, Warner Bros. has slotted the Reese Witherspoon-Sofia Vergara buddy comedy once known as “Don’t Mess With Texas” on that Mother’s Day weekend. On Thursday, the studio announced that New Line and MGM would co-produce the untitled comedy that was put in turnaround by Universal.

The date is a busy one at the box office. It’s a week after “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and one week before “Mad Max: Fury Road,” Universal’s “Pitch Perfect 2” and Sony’s Adam Sandler-Kevin James comedy “Pixels.”
Aniston and New Line have previously teamed on the hit comedies “Horrible Bosses” and “We’re the Millers.”
“Mean Moms” is based on “Queen Bee Moms and King Pin Dads: Dealing With the Parents, Teachers, Coaches, and Counselors Who Can Make — or Break — Your Child’s Future,” while “Mean Girls” is based on “Queen Bees and Wannabes.”

“Mean Moms” follows a happily married mother of two who moves from a small town to the high-class suburbs where she is faced with confronting the cutthroat world of competitive parenting.
Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot are producing through their Offspring Entertainment banner along with Jill Messick, who brought the project to Offspring before it landed at New Line.
