Jeremy Renner Describes Hawkeye’s ‘Parakeet-Esque’ Hairdo in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (Video)

“It’s kind of the Paul Mitchell prison cut,” actor says

Among all the things that have been scrutinized in the “Avengers: Endgame” trailer, perhaps nothing was as thoroughly discussed as whatever happened to Hawkeye’s hair.

The high flare of Jeremy Renner’s new hairdo in the film, along with his completely shaved sides, has split fans of the movie who think he looks like a “Simpsons” character and others who wish all of the Avengers had such wild, retro hair.

Jimmy Kimmel asked Renner to explain this “parakeet-esque” cut on Wednesday.

“It’s kind of like a Paul Mitchell prison cut,” Renner said. “The costumes change always, and the haircuts change. Thor used to have these goldilocks, surfer hair. It just changes. You gotta change it up once in a while.”

Kimmel was then quick to bring up the running fan theory that Hawkeye has now switched to Ronin, an assassin as seen in the comics.

“Oh wow! ’50-Year-Old Virgins is in theaters now,” Renner said, citing a fake movie poster he made with Paul Rudd.

Renner also wouldn’t dish on the new TV series that’s headed to Disney+, in which he is set to reprise his role as Hawkeye for a miniseries that also involves the person who takes up the Hawkeye mantle, Kate Bishop.

“Give me another 10 minutes and you’re going to tell us the whole movie,” Kimmel said.
