Jerry Springer: GSN’s Latest Bad Idea

The talk show icon will try his hand at a non-dating dating show for the gaming channel

Jerry Springer is expanding his empire of cheese to GSN.

The network Tuesday confirmed what readers of authoritative gameshow site Buzzer Blog already knew: Springer will host GSN’s new relationship series "Baggage." The confusing setup for the show has contestants exposing their flaws to potential mates — but not really, because at the end of the show, nobody ends up going on a date.

It just sounds as if people go on TV to reveal their worst secrets, but with no real stakes attached. At least on Springer’s daytime show, there’s a chance of getting knocked to the floor by a chair.

Springer is the second daytime talk veteran to get a show on GSN this year. Earlier, the network signed Carnie Wilson for a reality show that ultimately generated very little buzz.

"Baggage" premieres in late April.
