Jessica Chastain is in early talks to star as the adult version of Beverly Marsh in the upcoming “It” sequel.

There has long been speculation that Chastain would star as the character, played by Sophia Lillis in the original film that hit theaters last September. In the past, the actress has said she’d love to do it, telling TheWrap’s Steve Pond that she’d “kick any clown’s a–.”

Then, in December, she once again refueled the fire by telling the world she wanted to play the role. Lillis is also on the record saying she’d like Chastain to play the adult version of the character.

The sequel to “It” will see Andy Muschietti return as the director, and Gary Dauberman will write the screenplay. Bill Skarsgard is also set to return as the iconic monster, Pennywise the Clown.

The “It” movies are the feature film adaptations of Stephen King’s famous novels. The sequel will be a continuation of the first installment but will see all the main characters return as adults. The first film shattered box office records, crossing $700 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing horror film of all time.

Chastain will next star in “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” later this year, and recently became attached to an untitled Universal comedy opposite Octavia Spencer. The actress is represented by CAA and Mosaic.

“It Part 2” will be released on Sept. 6, 2019.
