‘The Jesus Rolls’ Trailer: John Turturro’s Jesus Quintana Is ‘on the Road, Flat Broke, Hanging Loose’ (Video)

“The Big Lebowski” spinoff film opens in theaters and on demand March 6

In “The Jesus Rolls” — John Turturro’s film imagining the trajectory of his iconic “Big Lebowski” character Jesus Quintana — he’s just out of prison and is now “on the road, flat broke, hanging loose.”

And yeah, it’s still his style to lick his bowling balls before throws a strike.

The first full trailer for the film reveals a comedic road trip movie and love story that shows Jesus and his fellow misfists Petey (Bobby Cannavale) and Marie (Audrey Tautou) embarking on a freewheeling joyride of petty crime and romance. Just don’t ask how many times they’ve all been around the block.

“374 guys I’ve had,” Tautou’s character says with a smile. “Did you count us in the total,” the Jesus asks in response. “Of course not,” she says, which earns a sigh of relief from Turturro and Cannavale.

“The Jesus Rolls” also stars Susan Sarandon, Jon Hamm, Christopher Walken and Pete Davidson and was both written and directed by Turturro, his first feature sine the 2013 film “Fading Gigolo.” And though the film is based on Coen Brothers characters, Turturro’s film is inpsired by the French farce “Les Valseuses.”

Screen Media is releasing the spinoff movie both in theaters and on demand on March 3. Watch the first full trailer for the movie above.
