Jim Henson Company Adapting Randi Zuckerberg Book ‘Dot’ for TV

The animated television series will target children ages 5 to 9

The Jim Henson Company has optioned the rights to Randi Zuckerberg’s first book, “Dot.”

The company will develop a television series, which adapts the children’s picture book for children between five to nine years of age. They’re currently shopping the idea to potential partners.

Jim Henson Company CEO Lisa Henson and Children’s entertainment executive vice president Halle Stanford will serve as executive producers on the project alongside Zuckerberg.

Published by Harper Collins and illustrated by Joe Berger, “Dot” follows the title character, a little girl with spunk and a lot of tech knowledge, as she embarks on an interactive journey that tests her skills and knowledge.

“Dot is a modern kid and we intend to produce a fun and forward thinking series that encourages the combination of a child’s traditional play and digital experiences,” Stanford said in a statement.

It’s the kind of book you’d expect from Zuckerberg. Formerly the marketing director for Facebook, she left to create Zuckerberg Media, a media and production company. She’s also the editor-in-chief of Dot Complicated, an online lifestyle site, and author of New York Times Bestseller “Dot Complicated: Untangling Our Wired Lives.”
